Putting it all together: Case Studies
The Shot Heard 'Round New York
Everyone said it couldn't be done. It was a special election in the most Republican State Senate district in the state – held by the GOP for more than a century. Democrats were outnumbered 2 to 1, and a popular Republican incumbent from a prominent family had announced his plans to run for the open seat. To the pundits, politicos and press, he was a shoo-in.
Red Horse Strategies didn't see it that way. We knew that the right targeting and a relentless grassroots operation could win a special election, even deep in New York's North Country, in the dead of winter with the numbers strongly stacked against us.
When a well-liked local Democrat threw his hat into the ring, we worked with him to craft a message, build a campaign staff and run a campaign. We mapped out a strategy and targeted the audience we needed to move to win. And we ran a populist campaign built on strong voter contact and a personal connection with voters.
The district had never seen an operation with scope and scale Red Horse Strategies developed and executed.
Everyone told us we couldn't win. But on a cold February election night, with snow falling and winds whipping across the farms and fields of Northern New York, we shocked the New York political world with an upset win like none other.
